Lahore Traffic Police has recently implemented a bold and severe new traffic law that will control traffic violations and decrease the risk of fatal accidents that happen on roads due to such violations. In a significant step they’ve decided to cease issuing the challans (fines) for serious traffic infractions. Instead, those who violate the law will be arrested directly or given an FIR (First Information Report) without any second thought.

This is a step taken to encourage people to be more vigilant about the traffic rules. According to the authorities, a lot of drivers don’t even consider reading the challans, and are violating the law, which puts theirs and other lives at risk. Thus, now traffic police are going to take firm and strong legal action immediately against the violators.

Recent Traffic Laws

Attention, drivers! New rules are in place, and certain violations will lead to immediate arrests or the filing of a First Information Report (FIR). Here’s what you need to know:

  • Driving the Wrong Way: A staggering 536 individuals have already faced arrest for driving wrong way traffic. This reckless behavior not only heightens the risk of accidents and also creates frustrating traffic jams.
  • Overloaded Loader Rickshaws: Picture a rickshaw so heavily loaded that the driver can’t see behind them. This common issue in Pakistan causes serious dangers on the road and increases the likelihood of accidents.
  • Unregistered Vehicles: Many unregistered two-wheelers, often hitched to carts, often came around unnoticed. Authorities are ramping up efforts to crack down on these vehicles to enhance road safety.
  • Underage Drivers: New legislation is on the way that will hold parents accountable if their underage children are caught while driving vehicles. Parents could face legal consequences, as they will be seen as complicit in this risky behavior.
  • Reckless Driving: Speeding, weaving through traffic, and other dangerous maneuvers will no longer be tolerated.

Stay informed and drive responsibly to keep our roads safe for everyone!

Another important step is to create digital records of each offense. In other words, if a person violates a law, the document will be stored online as a proof.

In addition when an FIR (First Information Report) is recorded, the person who committed the offence or violates the law cannot be employed by Police, the Police or any other department of the government in the near future. This can have long-term consequences for their actions.

The new policy adopted by Lahore Traffic Police shows that they are determined to make roads safer for all. It’s now the responsibility of everyone to adhere to the guidelines and to drive safely.
