Punjab Chief Minister’s Son Hit with Fine for Lahore Traffic Violation

Junaid Safdar, the son of Punjab’s top leader Maryam Nawaz Sharif (CM Punjab), recently received a traffic fine. This happened in Lahore’s Johar Town area during a regular police check.

Police officers stopped his car. They noticed the windows had a dark tint, which is against the rules in that area. A security car traveling with him also got a traffic fine for the same window tint problem. Police officials stated clearly that the fines were given correctly, following standard steps. They stressed that “no one is above the law,” meaning everyone must follow the rules.

After learning about the traffic fine, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif publicly thanked the Dolphin Police and traffic teams. “You treated everyone equally. I appreciate the Dolphin Police team for following the rules properly,” she said. She emphasized her government’s promise: the law must be the same for every person in Punjab, no matter who they are or who they know. Fairness is the goal.

FIRs Against Underage Drivers

Punjab’s traffic police are working hard right now to make roads safer for everyone. Just in June, officers gave out more than 60,000 tickets across the province. Why? People were breaking basic traffic safety rules, like riding motorcycles without helmets or driving cars without buckling their seatbelts.

Specifically, over 14,600 drivers and passengers were fined for not wearing seatbelts. These fines added up to a huge amount, roughly Rs. 120 million! In Lahore alone, helmet violations cost riders Rs. 15 million. Police stress this isn’t about collecting money. The real goal is protecting lives by making people follow the rules. They warn that enforcement of these road safety measures will only get tougher soon.

Meanwhile, after several terrible crashes involving underage drivers, including a deadly accident in Lahore’s Shahdara Town, police are taking a serious new step. They will now file formal police reports, called First Information Reports (FIRs), against kids caught driving illegally. Getting an FIR can cause big problems for a young person’s future chances. Authorities are urgently asking parents and guardians to stop their children from driving illegally.

The Punjab government’s message is clear and firm: Following traffic rules is absolutely mandatory for everyone’s safety. Expect strict enforcement of all safety measures to continue everywhere in the province.
