The Lahore City Traffic Police just opened a special booth at Allama Iqbal International Airport. It’s the very first spot at any Pakistani airport where you can get an international driving license super fast!

This new service answers lots of traveler requests. Before, people had to travel far to traffic police offices, which was a hassle. Now, travelers can avoid that trip. Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) DIG Athar Waheed officially opened the booth on Monday. The police department carefully checked the idea with their legal team first. The big win? If you already have a Pakistani license, you can get your international driving license in just minutes here.

CTO Waheed explained that this Pakistani international driving licences works in 132 countries. That makes driving overseas much simpler for Pakistanis. The license follows all the important global traffic rules set by the United Nations in agreements from 1926, 1949, and 1968.

Good news is that local driving licenses are now recognized in many countries worldwide. This includes popular destinations like the United Kingdom (UK), Japan, South Korea, Indonesia, India, Malaysia, Italy, Spain, Sweden, Russia, the United States (USA), Canada, Australia, Argentina, Mexico, Kenya, Nigeria, Egypt, and lots of others. This makes driving legally overseas much easier.

Airport Help Desks Get a Tech Upgrade

Explaining this move, the Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) said it fits perfectly with the Chief Minister’s big push to digitize public services. The goal is to make things smoother and faster for everyone. At the airport, a new self-service kiosk is now open 24/7. Friendly, highly trained staff are always there to help. They know all about computers and modern police work. Plus, they’ll keep making the kiosk better by listening to what users say.

In addition, he mentioned that there are plans to set up such kiosks at other international airports across the country, as a proactive response to the feedback of citizens and the growing demand.
