Free Transport Announced in Lahore During Basant 2026

Basant, a seasonal festival celebrated as a spring festival of kites. An emotion for Lahoris which has been reborn by the CM of Punjab, Maryam Nawaz. In relevance to accidents during this festival (which was the reason to ban it), a major step has been taken.

The Chief Minister of Punjab, Maryam Nawaz, has offered major relief for residents and visitors of Lahore. She has announced free transport across Lahore during the Basant celebrations from February 6 to February 8.

What the Free Transport Includes

The Punjab government has rolled out a large-scale transport plan to cover all the major and minor areas of Lahore. CM Punjab Maryam Nawaaz has announced:

• 500 buses are operating free of cost across the city
• 6,000 Yango rickshaws available for public use
• 60,000 Yango cab rides running on 24 routes, covering almost the entire city

This plan is made to make sure that citizens of Lahore move easily between the Basant festivals.

Metro & Electric Transport Also Free

All major mass transit services, not just road transport, will also be free for three days. This includes:

• Orange Line Metro Train
• Green Line
• Metro buses
• Electric buses

The Punjab government has put in place a full safety and control plan across Lahore to keep the Basant celebrations safe and free of traffic.
