Selling your car or bike? Here’s the key change: You must remove your current number plate and keep it. The buyer then has two clear options under the new number plate system:

1. Get a Brand New Plate: They can request fresh plates for their newly purchased vehicle.
2. Use Their Own Existing Plate: If they already own a license plate registered in their name, they can transfer that plate onto the vehicle they just bought from you.

Understanding Plate Categories & Fees

This updated number plate system also sorts plates into specific categories. This means certain plate numbers will be designated just for motorcycles, while others are meant only for cars, making things more organized.

Thinking about moving your cherished old plate to a new car or bike? Be prepared for an extra charge. This fee is required to transfer personalized plates and will cost between PKR 500 and PKR 8,000. The exact price depends on two things: whether the vehicle is a motorcycle or a car, and the specific type or combination of the number on your special plate.

When Will Punjab’s New Vehicle Registration System Launch?
