Punjab has taken a historic leap in the sustainable transport of the urban population with the launch of the first government-backed e- Taxi Scheme in Pakistan, named under the flagship project of the Chief Minister’s Vision Transport 2030, Maryam Nawaz Sharif. This transformative initiative has as its goals the need to modernize public mobility, reduce harmful emissions, and provide thousands of income opportunities for drivers, particularly women, all over the province.<\/span><\/p>\n

What Is the Punjab E\u2011Taxi Scheme?<\/b><\/h2>\n

The Punjab E-Taxi Scheme is a government scheme aimed at plugging eco-friendly electric taxis into the public transport systems of the province. It is part of the larger Vision Transport 2030 approach to phase out traditional fuel vehicles and promote clean energy solutions, as well as improve sustainable mobility for urban commuters.<\/span><\/p>\n

  • Phase 1 Roll Out: 1,100 electric taxis put into circulation, beginning from Lahore.<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Budget: It has been given a massive Rs 4 billion subsidy.<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Vehicles range in distance per charge from up to 300 km, which makes them perfect for heavy urban use.<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Built-in safety features, such as panic buttons, are placed inside every taxi that is connected to emergency services.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Integrated with existing popular ride-hailing platforms such as Indrive and Yango for driver earnings optimization. This scheme is not only about cleaner transport, it is shifting the mobility under\/on\/around Punjab with an everlasting socio- economic impact.<\/span><\/p>\n
