PAMA Reports a 39% Surge in Car Sales Last Month

This month’s car sales report shows a strong rebound! We look at the latest figures from local car makers, using new data from the Pakistan Automotive Manufacturers Association (PAMA). Find out which vehicles sold best and how the market is doing.

Car Sales Jump

After a 5% drop in April, car sales bounced back strongly in May, rising 39%. Factories sold 10,949 units last month, up from 10,596 in April. Sales were also 35% higher than May last year. For the first 11 months of this financial year (FY25), total sales hit 126,226 units – a big 39% jump from 90,545 units a year earlier.

Motorcycles & Three-Wheelers Also Gain

Sales of locally made motorcycles and three-wheelers rose a healthy 11% last month. They reached 150,175 vehicles, up from April’s 135,721. Compared to May 2024, sales climbed 26%.

Top Performers:

  • Atlas Honda led the pack, selling 130,240 bikes – a 13% increase from April (115,300 units).
  • Pak Suzuki zoomed ahead with 51% more sales, selling 2,854 bikes in May versus 1,892 in April.
  • Yamaha Pakistan sold 597 bikes (up from 499 in April).
  • United Auto Motorcycle sold 13,525 bikes last month.

Truck & Bus Sales Rise

Sales of trucks and buses jumped 17% last month. Dealers sold 610 units, compared to 520 in April 2025.

Company Sales Highlights

  • Toyota Pakistan surged ahead, selling 5,519 units – a 48% increase over April’s 3,259.
  • Pak Suzuki (PSMC) saw sales drop significantly by 38%, selling 4,829 vehicles versus 4,003 in April.
  • Honda Atlas performed well, with sales up 17% to 2,005 units from 1,707.
  • Hyundai Nishat had strong growth, selling 1,307 units – a 45% rise from April’s 900.
  • Sazgar Engineering (SAZEW) experienced a sharp 67% decline, selling just 919 vehicles compared to 549 in April.

Note: Sales figures for Kia Lucky Motors, Master Changan Motors, Regal Motors, MG Motors, and Al-Haj Proton are missing as they aren’t PAMA members.

Model-Specific Sales

  • Pak Suzuki (PSMC): Alto led with 3,409 sales, followed by Swift 792, Every 456, Ravi 386, Cultus 252, and Wagon R 224.
  • Toyota Indus: Combined sales of the Corolla, Yaris, and Corolla Cross reached 3,814 units. Fortuner and IMV models sold 1,015 units.
  • Honda Atlas: Honda sold 1,870 units collectively of City and Civic models, while BR-V and HR-V sales totaled 135.
  • Hyundai Nishat: Tucson was the most popular and sold 569 units, followed by Porter 353, Elantra 180, Sonata 122, and Santa Fe 83.
  • Sazgar Engineering: Haval models sold 915 units, with BAIC selling just 4.
